The Kollemcode Sree Bhadrakali Temple, located in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, is a revered Hindu temple with deep historical and spiritual significance. It is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, believed to be a manifestation of Shakti, and features dual deities, Bhadra and Rudra, symbolizing the elder and younger sisters. The temple dates back to around 625 A.D., making it an ancient center of worship.
This temple was originally part of the Travancore region, often referred to as the "beauty spot" of the area. Over time, it became known as Kollemcode. According to legend, the region was once called Kalinga Rajapuram, where war refugees from the Kalinga War settled and worshipped Goddess Kali. The temple's festivals, particularly the Thookkam Festival celebrated on Bharani Day in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March-April), attract thousands of devotees. This vibrant event, along with other rituals like the Kaliyoottu festival held every 12 years, underscores the temple's cultural importance
